What Gist does with your voice notes
When you share or import a voice note, Gist turns it into text and a short summary using Apple's on-device speech recognition and Apple Intelligence. All of this happens on your iPhone. We don't run any servers that receive your audio or text.
- The audio file is deleted from Gist as soon as it has been turned into text.
- Transcripts and summaries are saved only on your iPhone, so you can find them again in your history. They aren't synced or uploaded anywhere.
- You can switch history off in Settings, and then nothing is kept after you close a result. You can also delete everything at any time.
What we collect
Nothing. Gist has no account or sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting tools, no ads and no tracking. The App Store privacy label for Gist is "Data Not Collected".
Gist doesn't use your microphone. It only reads voice notes you choose to share with it.
Purchases
If you buy Gist Unlimited, the payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Gist checks with Apple on your phone to confirm the purchase.
Other people's voices
Voice notes often include other people and personal details. Because Gist keeps everything on your phone and deletes the audio after use, nothing from those notes is shared with us or anyone else. Please only use Gist with voice notes you're allowed to listen to.
Children
Gist isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
